Video
English Central has short videos with activities. Preview the words to the right of the video. Then watch the video once. Pay attention to the underlined words. The watch/listen again and try to fill in the right words. Then try a pronunciation activity. After a few videos, you'll need to register -- but it is free. Choose your level: Green circle = easy. Blue square = average. Black diamond = challenging.
Lingual.net has short videos for English practice. On many you can turn on/off the subtitles.
MG students: in your EC classes, you are using English Firsthand. Did you know that the Drama Coach conversation videos are on line. Use them to practice listening. Or try to shadow (speak at the same time with the same stress/rhythm).
Of course you know youtube.com for video. The music pages of this website give you some ideas. Commercials are another good way to study (they are short so you can watch/listen several times. Try seaching for "funny video." Or search for "Study English." Some of my favorite videos are from "Improv Everywhere". They do "street theater comedy." Sometimes there are captions (subtitles). If the CC is red (bottom right), click it to see the video with English subtitles. Here is one of my favorites.
